The West Sussex Art Society was founded in 1929
and was originally known as the “Sketch Club.”
It has evolved over the years and now has about 60 members.
The membership consists of a broad mix of amateur, semi-professional and professional artists, producing a wide variety of work, ranging from traditional through to abstract and conceptual work.

What do we do?

The Society meets currently at The Hope Centre, St Stephen’s Church, Angola Rd, Worthing BN14 8DU, on the second Saturday of every month. Meetings start at 2.30 pm and are two hours long.

At our meetings, we have a selection of strong speakers talking about their art and practice, as well as art history and techniques. We also have occasional practical sessions such as life drawing.

However, the meetings are only part of what we do. We are an exhibiting and supportive Society, holding our own annual exhibition as well as supporting and promoting exhibitions by our members. Many members feedback that they have learnt a lot from our meetings and that it has helped the development of their art.

We are always looking to welcome new members. Full Membership is by selection, and work submitted must be recent and original. We also offer Associate Membership which is open to all. Both forms of Membership cost £35.00 per annum.
